Your details, and what we do with them

Written to the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Plain language on purpose.

What we collect

What you give us to answer an enquiry or run a booking: your name, phone number, email, the event details you enter in the Book-a-DJ flow or the technical setup brief, and the names of any files you list in the brief (floor plans, tech riders); the files themselves are only requested with the quote.

Why

To check availability, quote, invoice, and run your event, including WhatsApp and email messages about that booking (confirmation, crew details, reminders). We do not use your details for marketing unless you ask us to.

Who sees it

Our crew and office, and the email service (Resend, running on Cloudflare) that delivers website enquiries to our desk. One more helper: when you type a venue or town in the Book-a-DJ flow, that venue text (and nothing else, no name or contact details) is sent to OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) to estimate the travel distance for your quote. Nobody else, unless the law requires it. Resend, Cloudflare and OpenStreetMap run their servers outside South Africa, so the enquiry email and the venue text are processed abroad under each service's own privacy terms, and we send them nothing more than the enquiry needs (POPIA section 72). Payments happen by EFT to our bank account; this website takes no payments and never sees card numbers.

How long

Booking and invoice records for five years (tax law). Enquiries that never become bookings are deleted after twelve months.

Your rights

Ask what we hold, correct it, or have it deleted where the law allows: info@xpsl.co.za. Our information officer is Jandré Janse van Rensburg, reachable at that address. You can also object to how we use your details. Giving us your name, number and email is voluntary, but we cannot check your date or quote your event without them. Complaints go to the Information Regulator (South Africa), JD House, 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg: inforegulator.org.za.

Cookies and tracking

This site stores an unfinished production brief on your own device so you can come back to it; the Book-a-DJ quote is not stored. That data never leaves your browser until you send it. The site currently uses no analytics and no advertising pixels. Fonts load from Google Fonts, and film clips embed from YouTube only after you tap play. If you turn motion off with the Pause motion control on the home page, that choice is remembered on your device too. We set no cookies.
